Tune-Up or Maintenance Inspection
Which One Do You Need?
Generally a tune-up focuses on the engine and a maintenance inspection examines the whole car. Unless you are having problems with your engine requiring immediate attention, you should give your car, just like your children or pets, an annual check-up. Because of the additional temperature stresses of winter and summer, it's a good idea to have your annual maintenance inspection prior to one of these seasons, or if you are about to leave on a long auto trip.
A full maintenance inspection looks at the car as a complete machine: brakes, differential, transmission, electrical system, battery (even service free batteries) and fluids (which should be more regularly checked and changed).
While the specifics of each maintenance inspection will vary according to the car's major mileage checkpoint (for example 15, 30, or 60,000, etc.), the basics such as belts, boots, tire wear, underbody corrosion, leaks, and alignment should be checked each time.
A maintenance inspection can keep you safe and save you money by preventing major repairs down the road. Maintain Your Investment!
